Mission Omega, ACFE Launch Financial Services Fraud Training Program

The self-paced, online training program will be tailored to banking, financial services organizations and partners.

The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE) and Mission Omega have partnered to create an online training program specifically designed to advance anti-fraud initiatives at banks and financial institutions.

The goal of Fraud Foundations for Financial Services: Essential Training for Fraud Prevention, Detection and Resolution is to equip both new and experienced financial services employees with the essential and practical knowledge they need to fight frauds and scams within the ever-changing ecosystem of the financial services industry.

“Fraud Foundations for Financial Services makes all entities across a financial institution stronger, which will ultimately help the entire fraud ecosystem,” Mission Omega Co-Founder and Managing Partner Ben Wallach said. “This training paints the big picture from the fraud threat, control and organizational landscape perspectives, and it gives a great starting point no matter where someone is either entering, reviewing, assessing or challenging the fraud space within an organization.”

The program consists of seven parts:

  1. Financial Services Overview: Regulatory landscapes, types of money movement and authentication processes.

  2. Fraud Risk Management Overview: What fraud looks like, what the risks are and how it impacts people.

  3. Fraud Types: Details of some of the most common fraud types impacting banks and their customers and how to recognize fraud warning signs.

  4. Fraud Defenses: Overview of prevention, detection and resolution techniques.

  5. Advanced Topics: A deep dive into cyber-enabled fraud, consumer lending fraud and commercial fraud risks

  6. Fraud Regulatory Compliance Overview: High-level view of the relevant regulations currently in place.

  7. Customer Experience: How to help customers who may be victims of fraud, including active listening techniques.

“With the decades of experience that the ACFE has in conducting anti-fraud trainings, and the decades of experience that Mission Omega has in this industry, Fraud Foundations for Financial Services is a must-have for financial institutions looking to invest in their staff and be game changers in working to counter fraud in our world,” ACFE Chief Executive Officer John Warren said.
